Photography Blog - 10 - The Night We Reached Kyoto

Our first evening in Kyoto felt like stepping quietly into a story that had already been unfolding for centuries. We moved from the ordered bustle of Tokyo Station, cranes reaching into the cold winter sky, to lantern-lit shrines where hushed crowds gathered as the New Year celebrations wound down. These images capture that first night spent wandering Kyoto’s streets, taking in scenes that felt both completely new and deeply timeless.

That night was also when I downloaded Lightroom Mobile for the first time and began to think more intentionally about the photos I was taking. Looking back, it feels like this was where my journey into photography truly began. A quiet arrival that set everything else in motion.

We hadn’t realised it yet, but Kyoto would soon become one of the most memorable places either of us had ever visited. We both fell in love with the city and long to return one day.
